Henry Stevens, Junior, was born June 18, 1812, in Bastard, Leeds, Ontario, Canada, the oldest child of Henry Stevens and Chloe Parish. He married Mary Ann Howe November 26, 1832 (four children: Henry Barnabas, Chloe, James, Elisha). He was 20; she was 16. Henry and Mary Ann joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1837 and the family moved to Lee County, Iowa, and then to Nauvoo, Illinois. They crossed the plains in the James Pace Company, arriving in Salt Lake City in September of 1850, and first settled in Payson. He received his temple endowment in the Endowment House February 9, 1852 and was sealed to Mary Ann on December 3, 1853. In 1853 he was called to help settle Sanpete County. The family moved to Manti, then to Ephraim, where Henry helped to build the first fort. On July 24, 1854, Henry married Augusta Rasimena Dorius in Ephraim and was sealed to her the following day in the Endowment House in Salt Lake City (four children: Charles J., Laura A., Ellen M. and Juliet). He was 42; she was 15. The family next moved to Spring City. In 1861 Henry and Augusta moved to Dixie for Henry's health, and lived there for three years. Mary Ann died in Spring City March 19, 1864. Henry and Augusta returned to Ephraim in 1864, then moved to Rockwell, and returned to Ephraim in 1870, where they lived until Henry's death on August 20, 1899.
