George Evan Stoddard, son of Elma Marie Skelton, daughter of Ethel Christiana Stevens, daughter of Hannah Mary Thomson, daughter of Christiane Jensen (Christiana)

The following story is from a brief biography of Christiana written in 1946 by her granddaughter, Ethel Christiana Stevens Skelton Lowe.

We all loved Grandma and Grandpa [Thomson] and looked up to them as ideals. The last few years of their lives were quiet and serene. Neither of them ever became bedridden for any period of time, though their health failed gradually with age. Their beds were in opposite corners of the room and Grandpa used to awaken early and call to her and they would lie and talk. One midnight, Grandma asked him for a glass of water. He gave it to her and after talking for a few minutes, all was quiet. When he awakened about four A.M., he called to her, but no answer came. He arose and went to her bed, but she had quietly fallen into the last peaceful slumber, leaving only memories of a true wife, a wonderful mother, and a life of kindness and love, well spent in devotion to God and her fellow men. Her posterity outnumbered her years at the time of her passing. She was seventy years of age. Her posterity has numbered missionaries, bishops, teachers, and many ardent workers in the cause she sacrificed for and loved so well.
